Finally, Oscars For Marion Cotillard

Posted by: Angelicum on Monday, February 25, 2008
I am just so happy with the results!

For quite some time I thought the Oscars will snob another Actress from a foreign-language film, but Marion Cotillard's performance in 'La Vie en Rose' is just not the type that can be robbed off Oscars that simple. Exactly the same thing for Daniel Day Lewis' role for 'There Will Be Blood.'

On a previous post, I predicted some categories in which I was able to watch all of the included films. Here's a comparison of my bets against the actual Oscar winners:

MECATEGORYOSCARS
Daniel Day-LewisActorDaniel Day-Lewis
Marion CotillardActressMarion Cotillard
Javier BardemSupporting ActorJavier Bardem

La Vie en RoseMakeupLa Vie en Rose

I'm like right, right? lol. Someone owes me some money! Hahaha! II am just so proud of Marion, and I felt extremely lucky to have watched La Vie en Rose as it was only shown three times in Shangri-la, without the slightest notice on how great the movie would be. On the other hand, is it just me or Daniel Day Lewis could be a poet? His Speeches for SAG, BAFTA and Oscars are amazing.

Things I Will Miss

Posted by: Angelicum on Tuesday, February 19, 2008
"An essential part of our childhood is going into extinction. Polaroid has announced that they will stop making Polaroid instant cameras and film. Instead, the company is going to focus on making digital cameras and manufacturing TVs. Buy your Polaroids and film on eBay. They're gonna be a thing of the past real soon!" - Click here

Now, now, me and my family never considered having Polaroid instant as part of our lives. Simply because we can wait. Lots of time in the world to wait for developing your pictures. =)

Anyway it will still be missed, Polaroid instant is an essential part of many events designed for young people, for parties, games and the like. Whenever I'm in San Francisco for example, we always do Scavenger Hunt within the city and it's one of those childhood memories that you will just never forget no matter how corny it was. It's just plain fun and that's good enough.

Another thing I will miss is how I looked so slim here (look at my hat haha!):

And now for the sadder part. Chow, our family pet arrived today finally. His Urn says 'For in your hearts I shall stay..' The Urn is quite elegant but I like the idea of having black marble urn shaped after his silhouette. I'm not sure of what picture is better so here:

The Cremation Package is worth the price, it includes paw-print paper-weight, his locks of hair and a cute card with his funeral pictures (lol).

It's just so hard to think that the one who used to be around us for almost all our life is now inside that small marble urn. We will miss him terribly.

Travis Kraft Upgrade

A Super-Man exposure from some local Philippine media, to Harper's Bazaar, now Travis Kraft upgraded from Katrina Halili to Lindsay Lohan.

When can I expect an HGTV guesting (as an upgrade to his funny Adobong Manok YouTube stint)? Then lastly, I have to admit it, even after all the rehab stint of La Lohan, she still looks piping hot here don't you think? And the concept looks are not bad too either.

You can view all the photos from Harper's Bazaar here.

Weep Not For Me

Posted by: Angelicum on Thursday, February 14, 2008
Our family pet 'Chow' (he's a Chow-Chow) will need to be put to rest (Euthanasia) tomorrow at ten in the morning. For months he was unable to walk anymore, eyes cloudy, unable to hear, needing to excrete while lying flat on the floor, he's frail and howling with pain for weeks, this is the best decision for him. Very few dogs reach the age of sixteen, most only lived up to their 10th.

Weep not for me

If it should be that I grow frail and weak
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then will you do what must be done,
For this -- the last battle -- can't be won.

You will be sad I understand,
But don't let grief then stay your hand,
For on this day, more than the rest,
Your love and friendship must stand the test.

We have had so many happy years,
You wouldn't want me to suffer so.
When the time comes,
please, let me go.

Take me where, to my needs they'll tend,
Only, stay with me till the end
And hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see.

I know in time you will agree
It is a kindness you do to me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I have been saved.

Don't grieve that it must be you
Who has to decide this thing to do;
We've been so close these years,
Don't let your heart hold any tears.

-- Unknown

I can still remember his snob yet cute attitude as a puppy, enjoying a quiet corner on a big cage with eight other puppies playing like there's no tomorrow. He is so like me on that aspect. We will miss him terribly, he's definitely more than just a dog, he is a family member and the pain of his loss is no less than that.

He will be cremated.

Bets: Oscars

Oscars will be throwing away its credibility if Marion Cotillard will not win the Best Actress trophy.

Best Actor: Daniel Day-Lewis for 'There Will Be Blood,' where in his performance is just inexplicably flawless. I wasn't able to see George Clooney for 'Michael Clayton' so I can't basically judge him. Comapred with the rest of the nominees, Johnny Depp comes in second for me. His role as the demon barber of fleet street for the screen adaptation of the musical 'Sweeney Todd' shows how flexible he is as an actor (despite of all the negative reviews, I stand by this movie, I think it's amazing).

Best Actress: Marion Cotillard for 'La Vie en Rose.' Words will never be enough to justify the flawlessness of her performance. She is virtually the only actress in this movie, the center of everything. It's like she pulled Edith Piaf from her grave and lived her life for a while, she is just amazing! My second choice would have to be Ellen Page for 'Juno,' the crowd favorite. Julie Christie's role in 'Away From Her' though is also a deserving nominee. I'm glad Angelina Jolie is not on the list.

Best Supporting Actor: Javier Bardem for 'No Country for old men'

Best Supporting Actress: Haven't watched any. lol

Of course it's 'Ratatouille' for Best animated feature film.

'Sweeney Todd The Demon Barber of Fleet Street' for Achievement in art direction

and 'La Vie en Rose' for Achievement in Make-up.

BryanBoy, according to himself is the gayest gay that ever gayed (actually he's so gay he sweat glitters). Marc Jacobs is one of his many blog readers. And very recently, Marc f**ng Jacobs named a f**ng bag after him!

That, is the new Marc Jacobs Bryan Boy bag! It's an Ostrich leather bag from MJ's latest F/W Collection.

FYI: MJ is behind Louis Vuitton for almost ten years now. BryanBoy is a famous -if not the most famous worldwide- Filipino blogger. This is his trademark pose: LOL

This pose was deliberately copied by FENDI on their campaigns. Hahaha!

NOTE: I am a campaigner of sustainable consumerism and I don't recommend Ostrich leather. :)

AI Top-24 Leaked

Posted by: Angelicum on Saturday, February 02, 2008
So far I have only seen one episode of American Idol (where my bet David Archuleta appeared) since it started airing, the schedule and the fact that it's on QTV makes it forgettable to catch.

Hemingway, the name of the top-24 contenders leaked even before the auditions proper finished airing. It is a major low for the producers obviously. Apparently these photo-shots were taken by a paparazzi around Hollywood, showing the the 24 hopefuls. (click thumbnails for larger version)

And here’s the list of American Idol Season-7 Top-24:

Top 12 Guys

* Chikeze Eze
* Colton Berry
* Danny Noriega
* David Archuleta
* David Cook
* David Hernandez
* Garret Haley
* Jason Castro
* Jason Yeager
* Luke Menard
* Michael Lee Johns
* Robbie Carrico

Top 12 Girls

* Amanda Overmyer
* Carly Smithson
* Amy Davis

* Kristy Lee Cook
* Kady Malloy
* Ramielle Malubay
* Syesha Mercado

* Asiah Epperson

Ramielle Malubay, another Filipino hopeful made it, as well as David Archuleta. I am still not sure of the veracity of Archuleta's being a Filipino.

Filipino immigrants/contract workers/citizens in US, it's time to start campaigning! LOL. Well at least now the two are worth campaigning for, unlike Jasmine Trias, duh!
